Those interested in mountain trips have plenty of opportunities to pursue their passion.

There are trails for seasoned and experienced hikers, as well as for those who are just beginning their mountain adventure and may need support in the form of a cable car.

Although the Tatra Mountains are mainly associated with hiking, Zakopane has also prepared cycling routes for bike lovers.

Museums, galleries, and historic churches will satisfy the curiosity of those passionate about history and folk culture.

Tatra Museum Dr. Tytus Chałubiński

The main headquarters of the museum is located on Krupówki Street, in a historic Zakopane-style building from 1922, designed by Stanisław Witkiewicz and Franciszek Mączyński. It features three main exhibitions: a natural section presenting key plant and animal species found in the Tatra Mountains, a historical section briefly describing the history of Podhale, and an ethnographic section focusing on the culture and traditions of the region.

Jan Kasprowicz Museum

Harenda is the name of a wooden villa built in 1920 in the Zakopane style. Here you can explore memorabilia related to Kasprowicz’s life and work—photographs, books, paintings, furniture, original manuscripts. It is also worth noting the pastel portraits of former residents painted by Stanisław Witkiewicz.

Zakopane Style Museum

In the Zakopane Style Museum located in the Koliba villa, a house built in 1830, you can find a permanent exhibition illustrating the typical appearance of a traditional Podhale highlander’s home of that era. Inside you will find furniture, clothing items, shepherd’s tools, ceramics, sculptures, and glass paintings.

Karol Szymanowski Museum

The Karol Szymanowski Museum is located on the ground floor of the Atma villa. The interiors and the surrounding garden aim to resemble the environment arranged by the composer himself. Inside you can view photographs and personal belongings including manuscripts, notebooks, pictures, press clippings, clocks, concert tuxedo, shoes, costume designs for the ballet “Harnasie,” and much more.

Kornel Makuszyński Museum

Muzeum mieści w dawnym domku letniskowym, w willi Opolanka i jest poświęcone słynnemu i cenionemu dziennikarzowi, krytykowi sztuki i przede wszystkim pisarzowi utworów dla dzieci i młodzieży. Wnętrze jest urządzone tak, aby jak najwierniej przypominać mieszkanie Makuszyńskiego.

Można tu obejrzeć zabytkowe meble, miniatury, ozdobne tkaniny, obrazy, projekty ilustracji do książek, autorskie rękopisy, różne wydania jego książek, prywatne zdjęcia, fragmenty pamiętników, listy od czytelników oraz przyjaciół-artystów, artykuły publikowane w prasie.

Antałówka - A Scenic Viewpoint in the Center of Zakopane

Tourists who prefer hiking can plan a pleasant walk directly from the center of Zakopane: starting near the PKP station, follow Smrekowa Street to the end of the asphalt, then continue along a dirt road and finally a path through meadows and sparse forest. From the top of Antałówka there is a wonderful view of the Tatra Mountains.

Gubałówka

Gubałówka is one of the most frequently visited mountains regardless of the season. It offers a beautiful view of Zakopane. You can reach Gubałówka on foot or by using the funicular railway. The railway is fully adapted for people with disabilities and parents with small children.

Krupówki

Krupówki is the most famous street in the capital of the Polish Tatras. It is a pedestrian street slightly over one kilometer long, filled with tourists and buzzing with life around the clock. You can find everything here: souvenir stands, local food products, small family shops and global brand stores, taverns, restaurants and pubs, music clubs and nightlife spots, cinemas, museums (Teddy Bear Museum, Pod Kuźniczym Młotem, the Bronisław Czech Memorial Room, the main building of the Tatra Museum), and art galleries.
